Today we have some easy tips you can use to provide preventative maintenance that protects your investment over the years.
While our vinyl coated pergolas are virtually maintenance free, you can still clean dirt and debris that comes up. Simply use soap and water to wipe dirt away with a non-abrasive cloth. You can use a melamine foam cleaner on stains and scuff marks like an Easy Eraser (Mr. Clean, Scotch-Brite, etc.) to gently wipe the spot. Goo Gone will remove gum and stickers adhesives. Check any hardware and replace any corroded materials.
If you are using a pressure hose to remove dirt and debris, remove any furniture, rugs or plants before cleaning. Working from the top to the bottom, use a pressure washer on the low setting according to the manufacturer’s recommendations to protect the vinyl finish or timber material. On some surfaces, you can use a mild cleaner and a flexible bristle brush/toothbrush to get into cracks and crevices. After washing, rinse well with water.
If you have damaged areas, you can use a touch-up kit or repair kit where necessary and tighten any loose connections that you find. This light maintenance can be done several times a year to keep your pergola looking as good as new!
