Easy Maintenance
Step 1 – Rinse: hose it down with a high-pressure water hose in a downward direction.
Step 2 – Clean: use a detergent that works with wood and use a brush with bristles. If you see any splinters (wood or paint) go ahead and remove it.
Step 3 – Remove Stains: wash off mildew and stains (you can use 1 cup of oxygen bleach to 1 gallon of water). After the stain lightens, wash again with soapy water and rinse well.
Step 4 – Rinse Again: rinse the pergola thoroughly with water to remove any detergent residue.
Step 5 – Repair: touch up any damage to the wood using wood putty if there are cuts or dings and then refinish those spots.
